At VMC of Central New York, our VMC CARES Fund provides financial assistance to pet owners facing economic hardship when their animals require life-saving emergency care.
A few important points about how our fund works:
-
A consultation and physical exam by a VMC of CNY veterinarian is required to be eligible.
-
The pet must have a good prognosis for recovery, as determined by one of our veterinarians.
-
Applicants must provide proof of economic hardship. This includes making efforts to find additional funding through their own resources, third-party payment options, or other assistance programs.
-
The pet owner must make some financial contribution toward the total bill.
-
Decisions are based on several factors: medical urgency, financial need, and how much assistance funding is available.
-
Because demand is high, not every case will qualify.
-
The final decision rests with the attending VMC of CNY veterinarian.
